SPA 01/02/03 Hexagonal Spacers

PSM SPA-01, SPA-02, and SPA-03 hexagonal spacers are part of PSM’s SPA series of threaded spacers and support pillars. These hex spacers are used to maintain precise separation between assemblies—such as circuit boards, panels, or sub-assemblies—while providing reusable threading for fastening. Their robust design suits high temperature applications and assemblies requiring strong mechanical stability.

Advantages

> Easily attached
> Suitable for high temperature applications
> High strength
> Precision reusable threads

Materials Available

B – Brass (electro nickel plated)
SS – Stainless steel 18/8
MS – Mild Steel (zinc plated)
AC – Acetal

Design & Material Options

Hexagonal spacers in the SPA-01/02/03 family are offered in a variety of materials including brass, stainless steel, and mild steel (zinc plated). Each variant uses standardized hex flats to allow wrench tightening or hand assembly. The reusable threads are engineered for strength and long life even in repeated assembly cycles. The hex shape helps resist rotation during tightening and provides convenient handling.

Dimensional & Thread Details

These spacers come in metric and unified thread sizes (e.g. M2 up to M6 or ¼-UNC). The hex flats (across-flat dimension) and outer dimensions are matched with thread size to give consistent strength and wrenching capability. Spacer lengths typically range from a few millimeters up to 60 mm (or more by special order). Standard tolerances ensure interchangeability and consistent performance.

Installation & Usage Recommendations

Alignment & Tightening

Because these are threaded spacers, they must be aligned squarely between mating parts before tightening to avoid cross-threading or side stresses. Use appropriate torque and wrenching on the hex flats to avoid damaging threads.

Material Compatibility & Environment

Choose the material that matches or complements adjoining components. For example, stainless hex spacers are ideal in corrosive or humid environments. Brass variants provide good conductivity and corrosion resistance for electrical or mixed assemblies.

Thermal & Mechanical Stability

In assemblies exposed to vibration, thermal cycling, or mechanical loading, SPA-hex spacers maintain separation and alignment. The hex shape helps resist rotational forces during torqueing, and the material ensures durability under load.
