PSM Knob Clips are small spring steel fasteners designed to secure knobs, handles, or hubs onto shafts or panels—especially within plastic or mixed-material assemblies. They are a compact, low-cost alternative to inserts or set screws, offering positive retention, ease of installation, and minimal hardware complexity.
Advantages
- Low cost
- Replaces expensive inserts and grub screws
- Fast, easy assembly
- Holds firm
- Easy to remove for servicing
MATERIAL
CS60, CS70 carbon steel
METHOD OF ASSEMBLY:

WHEN SPECIFYING, PLEASE STATE:
- Quantity
- Prefix (CBKC)
- Part No.
- Finish code (e.g. 3000 CBKC-0111-00)
Key Features
- Self-retaining design: The clip grips the knob hub or shaft and prevents it from spinning freely.
- Constant pressure: The spring action maintains consistent clamping force even under vibration or thermal cycling.
- Easy assembly and removal: Clips are typically pushed or snapped into place, allowing quick servicing.
- Minimal space and material impact: Because they replace setscrews or inserts, knob clips reduce part count and bulk.
- Versatility: Many knob clip styles, such as D-type, include flats or dimples to align with keyed shafts or flats for secure positioning.
Performance & Application Guidelines
Retention & Durability
- The clip’s spring design should maintain consistent retention force through repeated use and temperature changes.
- Test under load and vibration to confirm that the knob remains securely attached without slipping or wobbling.
Tolerance & Fit
- Maintain tight but adequate clearance between the clip and hub for smooth assembly.
- Avoid large mismatches that may cause over-stressing or reduced grip.
Use Cases & Examples
- Control knobs and dials in electronic equipment
- Appliance handles and rotary controls
- Automotive interior fittings
- Industrial or laboratory instruments where quick knob assembly and removal are needed

What are PSM Knob Clips (CBKC) used for?
What makes Knob Clips a better choice than inserts or grub screws?
Knob Clips replace expensive inserts and grub screws at a fraction of the cost while delivering fast, easy assembly — push over the hub, align the flat to the shaft flat, and push on. No tools, no threads to strip, no torque to control. This directly reduces in-place cost and assembly time compared to traditional shaft-retention hardware.
